
Adele Mara April 28, 1923 (died May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer and dancer who was a part of films during the 1940s and 1950s[2] and on television during the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara was her official name. She received an agreement with Columbia Pictures [citation needed]. She had experience in comedy shorts as well as "B" movies at the studio. This title was soon changed to Adele Mara. One of her first roles was as a receptionist in the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. She plays the lead female part in Alias Boston Blackie (1942) as the sister of a wrongly charged and escaped convict. When her Columbia contract ended after which she joined Republic Pictures where she was a regular in outdoor adventures and westerns. The actress was featured in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch featuring John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love interests, California Passage (leading lady) as well as Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
